A simple hadith, and billions of dollars of research
I have always had a passion to write understand science, and the relation to the Quran and Sunnah.
It fascinates me when I read this hadith:
Sahih Bukhari, Volume 8, Book 76 Hadith 444:
Narrated Ibn 'Abbas:
I heard the Prophet saying, "If the son of Adam (the human being) had two valley of
money, he would wish for a third, for nothing can fill the belly of Adam's son except dust, and Allah forgives him who repents to Him."
This hadith has:
1. Sociology
2. Astronomy
3. Chemistry
4. Physics
All in one. Why do I say it is worth billions of dollars? Simple.
How did the universe come to existence?
“Verily your Lord is Allah, who created the heavens and the earth in six days, and is firmly established on the throne (of authority), regulating and governing all things. No intercessor (can plead with Him) except after His leave (hath been obtained). This is Allah your Lord; Him therefore serve ye: will ye not Celebrate His praises?”
Al-Qur'an, 10.3
Countless ayat (verses) in the Quran talk about the formation of the universe in detail. We shall not cover these topics, as the ayat are in nature worth a whole discussion. Instead, let us summarize how the universe was formed.
The genesis of the universe was from a phenomenon known as the “Big Bang”. The theory of the Big Bang is proven by this ayat of the Quran:
“Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, then We separated them, and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe?” (Quran 21:30)
The Big Bang
During the period known as the Big Bang, the entire heaven and earth were joined as one entity. Modern astronomy has proven that at a point in time billions and billions of years ago, a strong force (Allah's Power) brought into existence the universe through a powerful bang. After billions of years, the particles settled down and started forming pure hydrogen gas clouds (known as dust). These gas clouds then formed the first furiously burning huge stars that formed the elements of the periodic table by fusion.
Our earth is the result of billions of years of fusion of hydrogen to form heavy metals and other elements of the periodic table, which became debris of dead stars.
Human beings
We are as Bani Adam (sons of Adam) created from clay.
Your Lord said to the angels, "I am going to create a human being out of clay. When I have formed him and breathed My Spirit into him, fall down in prostration to him!" (Qur'an, 38:71-72)
Then inquire of them: Is it they who are stronger in structure or other things We have created? We created them from sticky clay. (Qur'an, 37:11)
We were sent to the earth, we eat of the earth, the vegetables, fruits and other animals (we eat meat). These animals eat from grass and the earth. The earth is one big recycle bin of elements, converted from one form to another. When we defecate, bacteria and other insects recycle our own waste to something else.
Back to the billions of dollars hadith
Narrated Ibn 'Abbas:
I heard the Prophet saying, "If the son of Adam (the human being) had two valley of money, he would wish for a third, for nothing can fill the belly of Adam's son except dust, and Allah forgives him who repents to Him."
NASA and other scientific research organizations, have spent billions of dollars into
research to actually find out that the hydrogen molecules – or dust clouds for that matter (that were released after the big bang) fused to form other atoms, which then later go on to form fruits and vegetables and other animals on this earth. For nothing then fills your belly when you eat and take the rizq (wealth) of other people unlawfully, except that it was all just initially dust cloud. How useless is the price we pay to sacrifice the real deal – the hereafter.
According to surat At-Takathur (Quran 102 1 – 8)
Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you
Until you visit the graveyards.
No! You are going to know.
Then no! You are going to know.
No! If you only knew with knowledge of certainty...
You will surely see the Hellfire.
Then you will surely see it with the eye of certainty.
Then you will surely be asked that Day about pleasure.
Only when we visit our own graves do we will realize that all we were fighting for on this earth was just dust. How useless the price we pay.
