I wanted to be sure of exactly what I was getting in to. I got hold of a friend of my friend online and explained my situation. I never ever wanted my religious inclinations to be influenced by peer pressure so I didn’t inform any friends what I was up to. I knew that the change would be wholesome and not easy for anyone to accept but I had to find my purpose and according to Islam man, was created to worship Allah. I was worshipping my education and despite putting enough effort, I still wasn’t satisfied.
Eventually I made my decision. I knew I would not be perfect just by being a Muslim, I’d have to put a lot of effort, but I was willing to die trying. Even if the hijab would kill me with heat I would seek for divine help till I got it right.
On 24th December 2012, I reverted to Islam by the conviction of my heart. By Allah there is nothing better than the favour of Islam and embracing this deen!!! I had never felt better than I felt that day. That marked the end of my jahiliyah to the Nur of Islam. It was also the beginning of another beautiful journey, which will end Inshaa Allah, in Jannah.
Let’s never forget what Allah instructs us in the noble Quran:
"And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favour of Allah upon you -when you were enemies and He brought you together and you became, by his favour, brethren. And you were on the edge of a pit of fire and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be guided"
Surah Al-Imran : 103
The End/Beginning...
The team at ummah.co.ke would like to wish Nawal all the best in her efforts to perfect her deen. It may be the end of her story in to Islam, but Inshaa Allah it is the start of her never ending story within Islam.
