“ This world is made out of sugar,
It can crumble so easily,
But don’t be afraid to stick out your tongue and taste it…”
-Sara Kay
The world has become immersed in a deep hurly burly of building names and reputations, creating futures, saving the world, being superman; that we too often lose ourselves in this whole frenzy.
We wake up every day with tomorrow in mind; too engrossed we are in planning our tomorrows, that we forget every day, there is a ‘today’ to give thanks for. A today that seeks to be taken care of. This gift, ‘today’, is yearning to be unwrapped, but who will take notice when we are too busy seeking the world?
This very today brings with it new moments, and in each moment a new world, and with it comes with a new existence, in which lies your birth and your death, but is there anyone of you who will actually remember? For in reality, we are born more than a thousand times a day, but we choose to let ourselves die with each and every birth.
This is why Allah says in His Glorious book: "And certainly we have established you in the earth and made in it means of livelihood for you; little it is that you give thanks" (7:10)
And then He goes further to ask His servants: Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? (55:13)
It has never been, and never will be, about the flawless masterpiece that you shall be able to build in the end, but the mistakes in the flaws that you shall make therein. It’s about the breaths that you take by the minute, the mass of flesh that rhythmically beats in your chest. It’s the little things that you let pass you by while you’re too busy with your smartphone!
