In the Name Of Allah, The Most Beneficent, The Most Merciful

‘Certainly, when Allah sw loves a people, He makes them go through trials. Whoever is content, Allah will be in contentment with him; and whoever is angry Allah will be angry with him.’
(At-Tirmidhi)

Trials have always been a part of life, but for one reason or the other, we just never get used to them. It’s just not in us. Never has been, never will be.

“I’ve been hit by so many trials in my life Subhanallah, I’ve become immune! I don’t even feel it anymore!”

Said no one. Ever.

‘That We have created man into a life of toil and trial. Does he think that no one has power over him?’
(Q: Al-Balad: 4-5)

Think about this. If we were to have a smooth life, without ups and downs…then we wouldn’t grow as people.

We’d just be living stagnant lives. No learning, no growing, no exciting experiences. Just little old boring life. So in essence life wouldn’t  be seen as easy because we wouldn’t have experienced hard times in the first place, to realize what easy actually feels like. We wouldn’t appreciate the laughter, because we wouldn’t have known the tears. We wouldn’t know the sweetness of faith, the tranquillity of the heart, because distress has never been close to us. And you know what? We would be missing the most important and special moments in life.

You know that feeling you get when something actually goes right after an intense series of unfortunate events? You don’t know how things worked out, you don’t know why they even worked out this time, all you know is that…you’re happy. You just want to go into sujood and thank Allah, crying your heart out that things finally worked out. (I want to believe this is what we all do but something tells me at that it isn’t so, you’re probably going to be bouncing excitedly on your bed or something but who knows!) You definitely have no idea how, but hey, it’s just another ordinary miracle today.

Until another trial comes along. It feels like a stab in the chest. A harsh knife called reality just drilled itself right in the middle of your achy breaky little heart. And just like that man reverts to the ungrateful being that he so often is. Some even go to the extent of asking why that happened to them, as if the world owes them or something. Please child, calm your nerves and sit down.

‘Surely, man is ungrateful to his Lord. He himself bears witness to that.’
(Q: Al-Adiyat: 6-7)

You forget that just like Allah sw provided the solution to yesterday’s problem, He will provide a solution for today. You don’t know how, you don’t know when…you just know that Allah sw is Al-Fattah; The Opener to the way to victory and mercy. Then you’re heart smiles and you smile along. Because now you know that even though you never get used to the troubles -you never get used to life -you have Allah.

‘So surely, with every hardship there is ease; surely, with every hardship there is ease. So, when you are free, strive hard, and to your Lord turn (all) your attention.’
(Q: Inshiraah: 6-8)

You have Al-Wali; The Loving patron and supporter, and He’s all you ever needed. Alhamdulillah.

My words are a reminder to me first and foremost. May they benefit all of us in this life and the hereafter. Anything good I said (or in this case, I wrote) is from Allah sw. For anything offensive I may have said, I sincerely apologize and ask you to forgive me. May Allah sw make us among the people of Jannat-ul Firdaus. Allahumma Ameen.
